I like denim. I’ve always liked to wear jeans, denim jackets, denim shirts or pinafore dresses. So, the desire to make a quilt from this kind of cloth came naturally. I asked my family and friends to give me jeans they no longer wore, and in time I managed to collect about 15-20 pairs.
In August 2023 I decided to use this pattern and started making the quilt using 10 pairs of jeans and two men's shirts. I finished it in January 2024 after taking about a three-month sewing break.
When it comes to sew quilts made of ...

It is very useful for the wall hanging quilts, but it can be used for any type of modern quilt. It also reduces bulk in the corners, and provides nice clean turned edges. There are several ways of doing it. I will show you how I did it.
This summer Baby Lock sewing machines released an exclusive mini quilt kit featuring Lori Holt’s Gingham + Basics collections to make a fun, scrappy project. This quilt features a lot of half-square-triangle blocks as well as corner-flip-triangles so I thought I’d share a few different tips and short cuts for sewing these go-to quilt-block basic...

read moreI've just finished making the Starry Night pattern from Kaffe Fassett's Quilts in an English Village and it was a bit tricky due to the Y seams, so I thought I'd record what I did.
1. Always check www.kaffefassett.com/book-corrections/ for pattern corrections before you start. There is a pattern correction for Starry Nights because Template A diagram is too long in the book. The short parallel side should measure 2 3/4" and the long parallel side should measure 8 3/4". So make that change in your book before you start.
2. I ...

Caring for your machine and tools and choosing the right needle all seem like a given, right? I am ashamed to admit it, but I've been guilty of all of them.
You get on a roll and just keep going. You know there's dust clogging up the gears, but in just a minute... Or I think I hear a funny sound, I'll finish this then take a look... Or, my favorite, there ...
read moreAll of us, even the "old pros" (like me) make mistakes. For the majority, those mistakes come from habits that we've cultivated over time. And once they become routine, they require time and work to dispose of.
What are some common mistakes in the sewing world? These are a few that I've observed. Some I have broken, some I can't seem to keep out of my quilting life, and some I've observed while teaching quilting classes.
Not taking care the sewing machine. Let's start at the most important part of your hobby, your machine. It ...

However, I decided I can share the outline, let's call it a template, which can be a starting point for anybody who wants to make their own dragon, so here you go.
I loaded this panel onto Snowbird last week to do some bead board, straight-line, quilting. I decided to use the panel as is, it measures 19" X 44" and is perfect, without being bordered, as a table runner for our kitchen table. I had it quilted up in no time. One of the very best tips that I've ever heard is one that I learned from quiltdivajulie. She makes her bindings before she's quilted

On such an occasion I bought a piece of fabric for home decor, only because I really liked the classic floral design lying on the dark background. The opportunity to put him to work came these days when I decided to use it for the 2nd variant of my unfinished bag pattern.
First of all, it helped me to see what this bag model made of this type of ... read more
I bought the pattern for the "Hello Pouches" (knot and thread design) and was eager to make some up, I thought that they were cute, functional and a nice alternative to the paper gift bag for small Christmas gifts. I made one up yesterday as a trial. I'm happy to report that it's a well-written pattern with easy to follow instructions and access to online video tutorials. I made the "large"

The last source I just mentioned would be my first choice if the transport prices would not have increased so much, that doubles the cost of the order.
